BUE conducted a detailed condition survey for the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission at the Newark Bay pumping station sludge loading dock (total length = 825 LF).
The purpose of this survey was to determine the overall condition of the structure, to identify any structural, non-structural or safety deficiencies, which would compromise the integrity of the structure and/or present a potential safety hazard, and to develop recommendations for correcting any deficiencies that were found.
- Condition Survey of the Sludge Loading Dock & Structural Analysis of the Dock Section 7 for retrieval of skimmer vessels at the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners Newark, New Jersey facility. The survey was conducted to identify any structural or non-structural concerns with the wharf structure. Boswell developed repair recommendations of all deficiencies.
- Design passive cathodic protection system for steel sheeting bulkhead surrounding effluent by-pass structure.
- Condition Survey of the Effluent By-Pass structure including non-destructive testing of the submerged steel elements to ascertain cross-sectional area losses as a result of corrosion.
- Analyze the mooring configuration and channel depths to allow for larger vessels to off load liquid waste materials at the PVSC sludge dock by way.
- Design and install temporary ship fenders in the berthing areas while at the same time a permanent design of stand-off barges and mooring facilities can be implemented to place the boats in naturally deeper waters.
