Hoboken Public Library, Hoboken, NJ
Boswell Engineering was retained by the City of Hoboken to perform an asbestos survey of the Hoboken Public Library, a 3-story structure built in 1896. The proposed historic renovation involved extensive building reconstruction and was intended to:
Restore the structure’s original architectural details; Upgrade building services; and Provide disability access.
Utilizing our experienced environmental staff Boswell provided the City with a thorough and successful project. The Boswell survey team, comprised of certified Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) inspectors, performed an unobtrusive but detailed ACM survey while the building was occupied and as necessary before/after normal operating hours.
Boswell first identified the location and quantity of asbestos present throughout the building. All ACM locations were depicted on existing architectural building plans provided by the City of Hoboken. Using quantity estimates, Boswell was been able to ascertain the approximate project cost so that Hoboken could appropriate the sufficient funds. Upon the surveys’ completion, Boswell prepared a comprehensive Asbestos Survey Report that was incorporated into the project’s plans and specifications.
