Project:
La Faso Memorial Field, Garfield, New Jersey

Client: City of Garfield

Services: Design and Construction Supervision

This project included a multi-use recreation field with 90,000 sq. ft. of synthetic turf, an underground drainage system, and a restroom/storage building. The facility will be utilized for soccer, football, and baseball. Also included was a “Field of Dreams” diamond for special needs athletes. Additional improvements consist of a computerized field lighting system, remote control scoreboard system, retaining walls, grandstand bleachers with seating for approximately 300 people, walking paths, a restroom/storage building, and a 100-car parking lot to accommodate the parking needs for La Faso Field and the adjacent Little League Fields. Boswell Engineering was responsible for the layout, design, and preparation of the bidding documents for the project. Since this project was partially paid for by a grant awarded to the City of Garfield from the United States Soccer Foundation (USSF), this project was designed using USSF’s high standards.

La Faso Memorial Field was recently named “Municipal Project of the Year” by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers for statewide recreational fields and facilities.
